There are 10 gadgets in Nightfire that you can use, nearly
all of these where developed by Q-Branch. In the multiplayer
games only the Cellphone Grapple, Dart Pen, Q-Specs and the Phoenix
Ronin are used.
Q-branch has long been the 3rd arm for James Bond, assisting
him in many adventures and getting him out of many a tight spot.
Q has always been very proud of his work and always tells Bond
to look after his gadgets and return them back in one piece,
something James Bond often does not adhere to. In the James Bond
movies there have been well over 100 gadgets used, mostly made
by Q-Branch.

The Key Fob Stunner developed by Q-Branch is used to immobilise enemies without
causing them harm. The modified car keys send a small but efficient high-voltage,
low-amperage electrical charge through the key prongs to it's unsuspecting
target. Sometimes called the taser, the gadget has to be used at close range
for the prongs to come into contact with their victim, unlike a real taser
which fires the charge over a distance. The Stunner works by taking power from
a small battery and passing it through various internal circuitry to increase
the voltage to some where around 100,000 volts, while at the same time lowering
the amperage to around 3 milliamps. The high-voltage, low-amperage electrical
charge is enough to attack the targets nervous system and render them paralysed
or unconscious for a period of time without causing them any permanent damage.
The electrical charge from the gadget only lasts for a short period, but quickly
recharges once used. This gadget does not appear in the standard Multiplayer
maps, which is a shame as it's fun to use.
Q-Branch has fitted James Bond's standard watch with a laser beam allowing
him to cut through locks and wires. One of the cool things in Nightfire which
is quite often over looked is the attention to detail. If you look closely
at the watch when you deploy it for use you will notice that the second hand
moves around just like a normal watch does. Used in nearly all the Nightfire
Missions the Laser watch comes in very handy for burning off locks to reveal
Bond secrets.
Bond's cell phone has been converted into a personal grappling hook, which
can help you get to the hard to reach locations. The phone fires an ultra strong
wire with a grapple attached to the end that can connect to the many grapple
points strategically positioned through out the game. The distance that you
can fire the grapple to reach the target is very high, but there is a limit
to the amount of time the grapple stays attached to the grapple point . The
images on the left show a grapple point that I put up in the sky as far as
I could go on the Fort Knox map.
Q has taken a conventional fountain pen and converted it into a very accurate
and handy Dart Pen for Bond. Q says about it's use and ammo:
"Tranquilliser darts for inconveniently placed guards, silent and non lethal."
When used in Multiplayer games it is a sign of great skill if you can continually
hit moving targets. In the Gamespy server lists you will often see Fort Knox
games listed as Sniper and Pen only.
The Decryptor is a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) with Q-Branch Software
installed The decryptor can be used to hack computers, keypads, elevator controls,
etc. It can also send information directly to MI6 and store large amounts of
data on it's hard drive such as the Phoenix Nightfire information.
